Hi I have a G3 Beige which I have been running on 10.2.3 and I tried to
upgrade to 10.2.8 with disastrous results.

I want to use the machine as a web server and I think I might have better
security if I was on 10.2.8. When I had 10.2.8 on the machine it was kind of
crashy and after I had all the security updates added I could not get the
terminal program to open.

Has anyone had success running 10.2.8 on a G3 beige?

Yeah. I've not had any problems.

Any other suggestions on the web server?

I've had issues with upgrades before. It seems to vary from problem system to problem system (the majority of our systems have no problems at all).

Sometimes I've fixed things by re-applying the cumulative upgrade. Sometimes I've fixed things by doing a archive and re-install followed by immediate updates. Once (and it was my G3 at home) I did an A&R then the cumulative upgrade would just not run successfully, so I did it stepwise, it's running now with zero problems.
