If they were only using it in 9, why did you reinstall 10 on it? Did the schoolteacher ask you to do that? Anyway, when you reinstall 10.2 on it, didn't it go through a set-up script (asking you to enter your name as an administrator and set-up a password)? It should have. Just so you know, the Mac that is dubbed "molar" is not a iMac, it's a G3 All-In-One. Another thing, I hope you tried to install Panther with X-post-facto, otherwise it's a no can do (G3s not having onboard USB, the Panther install CD will not want anything to do with it).
