This prompts me to ask about something I've always meant to ask about:

From the Beige G3 writeup on the LEM site:

The beige G3 was the first Mac to power up from the keyboard where turning off
the computer doesn't turn off power to a monitor or other device connected to
the power out plug on the back. Apple reported this as a cost saving measure.

Did Apple *really* have to do this?

How odd. It turns off the monitor on my beige DT, which is a Rev C. It does on the MT here in the office.
