Internet Explorer downloads just fine, and opera downloads fine. Internet Explorer actually works 100 per cent, or at least 100 per cent of what it is supposed to do. I just hate the idea of putting her through popups again.
I installed Word 98 and it works just fine.
I am considering an upgrade to 9.22 to see if that solves the problem.

Just a thought, but can she save in other programs? Like Simple Text etc. If she can't, then the problem isn't your browser.
Once you resolve that she can, then it might have something to do with permissions under preferences/options. Another possibility is RAM/virtual memory allocation. Again, I'm just guessing but these might be areas to investigate. Is there something (like a web nanny app) which has made the disc read only? Just wildly brainstorming as I tear out a bathtub!
