This isn't new, according to the site. It's dated 2002. What's the
difference between this and any site simply adding cookies? If you delete
cookies, or don't let your browser accept them, it seems to me that it's the
same difference.

Plus, there are many Yahoo rumors that pop up from time to time and are
passed around to others users; myths, urban legends etc. plus some outright
scams set up just to get passwords. One states that unless you email Yahoo
right away, then your account will be closed. Send that out to enough users
and you have an email barrage pointed at Yahoo which would have the same
effect as a purposeful ddos. It may, in fact, be that as the warnings might
stem from a competitive site. 'Course I'm big on conspiracy theories and
Oliver Stone movies....
