Hi Russel,

I had a similar B&W... G3/300 with 320 MB ram and a 6.4 GB hard drive and the best upgrade was the cpu.

I've increased the ram to 1 GB... just because I had the extra modules around. Didn't really see any huge change in performance.
Replaced the HD with a 60 GB. No performance gain, just nice to have the space!
Haven't given the video card much thought. I run 1600 x 1200 with the standard Rage 128 card and the display is quite adequate.
The biggest difference came with replacing the G3/300 cpu with a G4/450. Everything is quicker and running Photoshop CS is just wickedly cool now!
I got the XLR8 upgrade from eBay, 'bout a year ago for about $130 US if I recall correctly. Probably could have gotten it cheaper, but I didn't want to wait. :)

HTH,

Amanda

I have a friend that would like to upgrade his G3/300 Blue & White.. He has 448 MB ram and running OS 9.2.2. Does not do a lot of Graphics or Games.. Mostly Word, Excel and some photos. Also does a lot on the internet. Has 128 DSL connection.Complains about being so slow particularly while on the internet.

Increase ram would not make a lot of difference considering what he is doing. I believe the 448 MB is plenty..
Upgrade of processor will help.
Video card? would that be worth upgrading and gain any increase in performance?

I would appreciate any suggestions that would increase performance with out to much investment at the present. He would like to get a new CPU, but is involved in building an airplane and is trying to get the project done, so does not want to spend a lot of time learning new equipment.
