Though I am pretty proficient and comfortable erasing and doing things in OS
8-9, I'm one of folks who just started working with OS X and don't have a
clue as to what I am doing.  Is there an easy way for me to get some basic
information about what things are, i.e. what names mean, when I open the
system or other folders.
