The firmware update is easy. It only involves running the updater and upon restart, pushing the programmers button until the machine chimes 3 times, IIRC. After that you're good to go with a G4 ZIF.
Is there a certain OS that must be installed? I have a 40 GB HD in it (being used) with 9.2.2 and a 80 GB HD just sitting in there with X.2.8, not currently being used. Where are the firmware patches/updates available? If I do upgrade to a G4, it will probably be from a posting to/from the LEM-Swap list. I have a copy of Panther on the way from a swapper and I hope that it runs a little better for me than Jaguar did.
