ADC specs 4Amps output, so figure 4.5 amps if pushing ADC & Firewire at full draw as a guestimate. If not using ADC/Firewire and just want the machine to boot, .5amps will do it. Note, the actual voltage output by Apple powersupplies is 24v, which is much easier to find in a wall wart than 28v. : )

As far as deriving 28v off a 12v rail on an ATX powersupply, that will only work if you never want the machine to power off. ATX powersupplies only leave a 5v standby line lit when switched off.

not much if a wall wart will do! i believe it's about an amp or so. i suspect the frankenmac sites
listed earlier will tell you. i was unaware of this problem, i thought an atx supply would just
work. seems like there might be a market for converted atx supplies with the 28V available and
wired correctly. what size power supplies are people using? it's fairly straight forward to get
28V from the 12V the supply already has with a little switching power supply, especially since it's
low power.
