OK now I'm the one that's stupid... Is the hash "#" I think it is... If I press SHIFT-3 I get a "#" If I press ALT-3 I get nothing and if I give my keyboard a Vulcan mind grip SHIFT-ALT-3 I get nothing but a cramp in my hand... Is it possible that some keyboards don't have a SHIFT-3 as a HASH? - thank goodness I don't program on my Mac...
