Hi Lavode!

I found an interesting article on dead pixels. Most companys have a policy
about an acceptable number of dead pixels. Check it out:

http://graphics.tomshardware.com/display/20030319/

OVERAM 1 defective pixel
Apple 6 defective pixels
Compaq 5 defective pixels
IBM 8 defective pixels
Dell 6 defective pixels
H.P. 5 defective pixels
Sony 5 defective pixels
ViewSonic 5 defective pixels

Enjoy!

Subject: LCD Dead Pixels

Hi all,

Last week I noticed that my new Viewsonic 20" LCD monitor had a white pixel.
I had purchased the 2 year replacement plan, so I took it back to CompUSA,
and returned it. They gave me a new one, which also had a purple pixel in a
different place. I took that back, and they couldn't show me one without a
dead pixel of some sort in the display.

>From the resources I have read, this is a quality control issue, and
certainly isn't an acceptable defect. I know some people just grin and bear
it, but I think for the price I should expect top quality. I eventually was
able to return the monitor and buy an Apple 20" Cinema Display, which I had
looked at in the store and could detect no dead pixels anywhere under any
screen color.

Since I went through 6 monitors, one of them a Samsung, it left me
wondering. Are dead pixels just a fact of life for LCDs?

TIA,
Lavode
