I work at a trucking company as a driver, and every day around lunch they announce over the loudspeakers to everyone in the company who uses the computers that they are rebooting, so they can quit what they are doing. Of course they use Winblows. It's sick how unproductive that is. Any unix type system, once set up, runs 24/7.

Assuming the PCs reboot daily, you can put a line in their autoexec.bat to
do that automatically.
Something like
del .DS_store* ._*
in the appropriate directories.

If they're rebooting their servers daily, they're doing something seriously wrong!

Not at all.

*Microsoft* actually recommends that Windows-based servers be rebooted daily.

They started recommending this during the NT days, in order to improve "overall server stability". The recom continues today: just last week, a MSgeek showed one of my clients a new two-page MS document that said that his new server should be rebooted every day. It listed everything from general reliability to network performace as reasons.

Let's face it -- "secure" and "reliable" are just not in the top 100 reasons IT folx put Windows on servers.
