Subject: 2 different kinds of AGP?

I have an AGP STB card. I think its an nVidia clone as it looks
almost
identical to an nVidia PCI card I have. It was pulled out of a PC. I
tried to install it in another PC, but it would only install backwards.
I looked at an AGP 9200 that I bought for my Mac, and it appeared that
that would work both backwards and forwards. It seems to me that was
designed to work in 2 different AGP slots. The computer I was trying to
install in is a Hewlett Packard, and one it may have came out of was a
Gateway. I know they both like to make things harder than they should
be and more profitable for themselves.

Thanks

Chris

First off I should say that an AGP card should never go into a slot
backwards and doing so will probably damage the card and possibly the
motherboard. Here
http://www.ertyu.org/~steven_nikkel/agpcompatibility.html is a site that
lists the different AGP standards and slot types. It sounds like what
you have is a 1.5 volt only card and a 3.3v slot or a 3.3v only card and
a 1.5v slot. The 9200 you have is compatible with both voltages (as I
think most cards you can find are) and can go in either slot type.
