No idea, but a solution (?): Select a pdf file; Get Info on it; go to the
Open With menu and Choose Adobe Reader *or* Other, then navigate to Reader
and select it; click on the 'Change All' button; confirm.

SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for software upgrades:

1. Repair permissions (Use Disk Utility or something like Onyx)
2. Upgrade
3. Repair permissions

Tends to avoid many problems. Why? Can't tell ya....
