Hi,
Maybe someone can help me with this: I have a Beige G3 266, presently being
operated with an external 28Gig SCSI, 50-pin, drive.
Question: Does the mobo on this machine have a 50-pin connector which would
allow me to internally mount the drive?
Yes. It's at the back right side of the motherboard, next to the two ATA connectors, just inside of the external SCSI connector. IIRC it's labelled on the motherboard as SCSI.
Unlike the 7/8/9x00 series, the G3's only have a single SCSI bus, so be prepared to fiddle with id and termination if you have external devices as well.
Cabling it can be a b*tch, though, since it's got to run along side the power supply like the ATA cables, you'll probably need to make a custom cable . It might be easier to stick the scsi drive down in the 'basement', though if it's a fast, hot drive you'll probably run into cooling issues. It won't fit if it's > 1 inch.
