And Bruce, that's exactly what I was hoping to hear about the internal FW
port. And I have done exactly that (snaking cable out for easy hook-up to
camcorder) so I have a little more leeway instead of breaking my neck
getting to the back of Mac. A front-mounted port would be awesome! But all
the slots are filled with drives, darnit!

Cyberguys has front ports that fit into a spare 3.5 or 5.25" slot on the front of your computer if you have one available. These have firewire/usb etc. Kind of handy.
