I had more luck Googling, I knew I had seen it before a few years ago 
and found it here:

There was also an AGP G4 mod where someone built a slot-loading drive 
into the ZIP bay. I just found out that that was done by the same 
person. The link for it is also on that page, check the second page of 
that mod to see the slot-loading drive in action.

But doing this mod is not for the faint of heart since it requires a lot 
of cutting etc.
