Looking for a PCI/IDE card shows all sorts of "ATA" cards, but that's NOT the same as IDE --- hence the problem. The ATA cabling, and IDE cables just don't mesh.
Wha??? IDE and ATA are the same thing. There are 80-pin and 40 pin cables, but they're interchangeable, save that it's only the 80-pin ones that support cable select mode (afaik).
Howbout we say 80 & 40 "conductor" cables -- the plugs only have 40 pins.
And yeah, I thought they were the same (ATA/IDE), but looking at the various card descriptions doesn't give much confidence.
