Hey Drew, your old ram isn't necessarily usable in your new G4. I've got
a bunch of 256MB sticks of PC133 SDRAM that work great in a B&W but can't
be seen when installed in my Sawtooth or my Quicksilver. I'm not sure
what the difference between the speccs is, chip density perhaps?

Were I you, I'd spring for (or borrow) a ram module that is specced
specifically for the AGP G4 Macs. For example, see OWC's memory pages,
they sell the right stuff.

Hi Dan,

The RAM in the G4 is what came with it - I didn't supply it. But you got me thinking. I realized that I _do_ have a stick of 256MB PC133 RAM in my beige G3 (that also works in my B&W). I swapped that in with the same results, unfortunately. Though, given what you just said, that might not be surprising.

OWC's PC133 RAM (even their in-house stuff) is a bit expensive... Got any other sources? What kind of specs are required for the DA G4? I figure so-called "high density" RAM is no good, of course.

Peace,
Drew
