Well, that would be useful if you should happen to withdraw all files at the
same time (in one move) or from the same folder. But incidentally I had done
it from different folders. It looks like the only file of all the ones I
selected, only the last one move to the trash was put back where it came from.
Geez even Windows has a better "restore this item back to its original
location" feature that works in all files in the recycle bin no matter where
they came from (or when)! OS9 never failed me with the put away command,
unless I tried using put away on a file created on the desktop, it would say
"can't complete the put away command because 'whatever' was created on the
desktop"

Oh well it was worth a try.

No I have never quite repaired permissions right after a crash, I do it about
once a week or so, when the mac crashes I am so upset and eager to get back to
my work I never thought about repairing permissions right after a crash (it
would help to say nobody mentioned this to me).

And I am running a G3 400 with 70GB HD space - 2 drives 9gb 68-pin (with OS9)
the 60gb ide (with OSX in a 25gig partition the others are storage (at least 50
gigs free including both) with 256MB of RAM (yes I KNOW!!, but my G3 333 would
only crash about once a week with the same amount of ram!) I could really use a
bargain when it comes to ram, anyone?

well now that I think about it, I'll put that in my list of priorities when I
get my check, meanwhile I have no idea if OSX can be configured for Virtual
Memory, since my hardrives have plenty of room left is there a way to take
advantage of it? How do I set it, I never fiddled around much with the sustem,
and I've been using OSX for two years, but just getting my work done, browse
the web and that's it, honestly, single with two kids, who has the time to
fiddle with the OS?? I was a teen when using System 6 and learned all the
shortcuts, had time to read the Mac User's AND Mac World's Mac OS Secret books
and such. So all I had to do was learn the new stuff incorporated to the newer
OSes as they came along, since it was all based in the same foundation and
structure. But being 28 (26 when I began using OSX) learning a whole new
System completely bizarre to me, you can't always seen to understand the root
of how it works, no time now, need to get work done.
