Man... does that take me back. Used to order parts for a car dealership that I worked for, when I was knee high to a horney toad, over one of those things.

Makes you love OSX.

First Co-Op Job I "fixed" DataGeneral Terminals. I even had to paint them because of Cigarette Smoke damage... Talk about a walk through history.

I had to replace the actual Serial Controller Chip... 9600 Baud...

Serial... 9600 Baud... Cigarettes in the computer room....

AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! MAKE THE PAIN STOP.......

And people are "talking" about Mac OS 9.X verses MAC OS X??? Thats just a slight hick-up in the history of computers...

Anyone remember the Black and Green MONOCROME text interface? Now that's an interface that should make a comeback. How about IBM - Mainframe TSO?

HELLP!!!!

My father was a 30-year veteran of IBM, and he wouldn't hear of my pleading for a Mac back in the mid 80s.

We had an IBM PC (5150), an XT, and several others throughout the years. I ALWAYS wanted the IBM CGA display, which my grandmother (also a veteran of IBM) had, but we never did. I wanted the Hercules multi-hue monochrome display adapter, but he wouldn't hear of that either. All we had was that old green & black 2-dial IBM mono display.

One thing that strikes me about the differences between the PC and Mac platforms is that PCs don't age well, whereas Macs do. I can still use a Plus to do Real Work, although it's a bit more difficult with Panther in the mix than it was with Puma or Jaguar. I can still network a Plus to my NEW PowerBook and iMac, and I can still run the original MacWrite/MacDraw/MacPaint apps in Panther's Classic.

Try THAT on an XP box!
