The spelling was changed by Apple to avoid copyrite issues.
Minor nit: Trademark, not copyright, and not with the apple, but with the stereo amplifier company <http://www.mcintoshlabs.com/> (Hoo BOY! If you want an expensive mac, try one of their boxes!!! You don't look up the price of a system on their web site, you 'request a proposal'.)
Second: Macintosh has always been spelled Macintosh. never MacIntosh, despite the enormous addiction to oddly capItalzed words prevalent in the computing industry at the time.
Thirdly: Copyright pertains to creative content. Trademark pertains to a specific 'mark' which can be a stamp (the original meaning, the guild-hall stamps used by metal smiths), a logo, a particular word, phrase, or even packaging or unique design used in the marketing or identification of a particular product.
And neither of them are patents...
