It was not a no brainer for me. OS X will not run my favorite Backgammon program, Backgammon, created on Thursday, December 6, 1984. That program has been with me since 6.0.4 on my Plus in 1988 through 9.2.2. : ) And I am sure if someone has a 128K Mac, it will run fine on that
Have you tried running it in Classic on OS X? I have seen original versions of MacWrite, MacDraw, MacPaint, etc. run in Panther's Classic environment.
Yeah, no go. The application starts and I can see it's menus, but it will not draw it's window on the screen. I still run MacDraw Pro (note Apples Mail spell check does not recognize MacWrite, MacDraw, MacPaint and flags them as misspells) at work on a beige beast running 10.2.8.
This is NOT FAIR. They should force software developers to provide maintenance on their programs for 10 years like they do the automobile manufacturers.
It's called progress and has nothing to do with being "fair."
If you noticed, one app is just over 10 years old, the other is over 20.
Fun stuff. Seriously, I love OS X and would never go back.
Particularly with all the free stuff out there. I am just starting to give Open Office a try and look forward to giving M$ Office the boot.
