Hello, I was wondering if a G4 450mhz would work in a B&W G3? I know
some G4's do work, but was wondering about this specific one. Also,
would it be a bad idea to buy a B&W rev1 mobo? Thanks a lot!

Hi Chris, the original G4's (Yikes), were essentially a G3 motherboard with a faster G4 cpu/zif installed. A G4 450 Mhz cpu like this would work just fine. However, the later models of the G4 (Sawtooth), used a completely different motherboard/CPU setup. These of course would not work. As for the rev 1 motherboard, there is a problem with having more than one HD using these units. Rev 2 boards solved the problem and are considered superior for this reason. HTH
