Hello All, Could use some advice, my brother has a iMac specs:
iMac 233 Rev A or B (Not Sure, but Im thinking A) 512 MB OS 9.1 Boots up just fine, after about 5 minutes the monitor shrinks from side to side and then the computer shuts down. It will reboot right away and do the same thing all over again. If its the crt going out, will that cause the computer to auto shut down? I checked the low end mac site and it seems that Rev A has no external video port but Rev B does. Can someone verify this? I had my brother look for a external video port and he claims there is only a modem phone jack port and the usb ports and ethernet. Anywhere else to look for an external video port? Im thinking to test if its the CRT, to unplug the internal video connector and hook up an external monitor. Can this be done? If it still has the same problem then I would think its the video card. Can it be replaced? Is there an actual video card or is it part of the motherboard? Maybe its time for him to get a Mini? Thanks much! Geno -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
