Can you set up MacOS X to reveal what's going on during bootup? Under Linux, you get a stream of information about which service is starting up and whether there's errors and it can be very helpful. Since MacOS is BSD under the hood, I'd really like to see what's going on rather than have that grey screen with the darker grey apple and the circle going round and round and round. MacOS 9 and below was actually a little bit more helpful about where you were in the bootup process...the parade of extensions, etc, served as a way of knowing what was going on.
