I got mine to work after a lot of trying like you.. If i remember
correctly.. I got it to work by doing the following:

1) a fresh 9.1 install to a 400 Meg partition on a 6 gig drive ( the
remaining space for 10.2)
2) install and run xpostfacto with the default settings
3) install osx 10.2
4) remove the ati video display files
5) update to 10.2.8 from apple..

thanks for the response.

As said, I don't have OS 9 but I guess my cdrom just won't boot anything, so I grabbed an empty hd, put it into a colleagues G4, installed 10.2, put it into the g3 and it works now. Only it seems to be quite unstable, I could not get the system updates to work, and Carbon Copy Cloner (I don't want to install again ;)) doesn't work but quits with some applescript error. Maybe I'm just dumb.

what video are you using?? the onboard??

Yeah, I ripped out the pci card (some obscure manufacturer I don't remember right now). I put another 128 M RAM into the box, maybe this is causing the instability...

A cheaper way to play with OSX is to run pearpc.. I have 10.3.0 running off
of my P4 running at 2.0 Gig with 512 Megs of memory.. a bit slow but faster
than the g3/233 I have running..

I didn't know you can actually run OS X from pear pc. I will have a look at it. Thanks for the hint.

Greetings,
Michael
