no the G3's ports are not USB 2.0. You would need to add a USB 2.0
card for that. OS X supports it but the hardware doesn't. The G5's
were the first systems to ship with USB 2.0 ports.

I buy a USB 2.0 card, plug it in and then the USB ports support 2.0?
Maybe I should wait until I have the B&W in hand so I'm looking inside
before I ask all these questions.
