Well, it works fine in OS 9.... But I'd sure like to run 10.4 on
it. In answer to some of the questions.....I pulled a 512 ram stick
out of a dual 1 gig G4 that we have and it only registered as a 256.
Tried the 10.4 install and it still failed.
The 120 gig drive is read in total and it's the only drive I have
installed.
I do have a Linux install that I could put on it too, after all the
machine is only to play with.

A 512MB stick "might" work, but the B/W will only access half that
memory, which is its designed max. Was the machine working better
before you added it? That would be the first item I'd test by
removing to trouble shoot.
It doesn't matter that the other ram sticks are different sizes,
but there could be other issues with them
