High density Ram is supposed to work fine in the BnW, AFAIK.

As this is a good explanation as to why, when you install a 512Mb Memory Module your system only sees 256Mb's of the device. Basically the G4 requires SDRAM, however you can install DDR RAM because they are compatible and "almost" the same, but not quite.
