It's not possible to accurately tell the size of the rom without
attempting to flash it. The rom is an 8 pin soic serial flash chip - mostly
made by ST Microelectronics, Atmel etc and printed with the chip id....

    (m) 25po5 is the id for a 64k (512 megabit) chip

    (m) 25p10 is the id for a 128k (1024 megabit) chip

But many of the chips are mislabelled - some 25p05 turn out to be 128k -
which is the size reguired for the full mac rom. An attempt to flash a
genuine 25p05 with a 128k mac rom on a pc using dos commands will result in
an error at 65536 (64k) bytes as the chip has only half the capacity
required - a mac will not usually boot with a pc version card installed but
if you can boot an attempt with the mac flasher will stop at 50%. The chip
can be desoldered and replaced with a 25p10 or you can try a reduced mac rom
from various sources on the net. To add to the misery some cards have
'blocks' which prevent a flash greater than 64k. If you have some experience
of surface mount soldering the chip replacement is not too challenging - if
you don't the traces and pads are easily damaged beyond repair.

Pete

Is there a common brand that is fairly reliable in that they use the 128k
ROM's? Sapphire, Connect3D, etc? I know there is also 64k ROM's out there
too, but they appear to be hard to find, unless you have some. I'm willing
to order a card if I can get the files and take a go at it. Thanks for the
info!
