The only article I could find quickly is this:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25818
that talks about problems running the 10.2.8 combo updater after an
archive and install of 10.2. I thought I remembered finding an article
that discussed using the 10.2.8 combo updater on a beige, but I could
not find it. I definitely had to do the two step upgrade on my beige
when I did an archive and install.

Well, in that case, it doesn't apply to me, because mine was a fresh
install. But I'll try to keep that in mind, for future reference. Thanks,
