DVDPlayer is an Apple app that may not have been installed if you did
not have a Super Drive in your machine. I had a time finding it, and
I don't remember exactly what I had to do, but I may have been able to
search the install discs file archives and install it from there.
VLC is an easier solution that may meet your needs. It's freeware
available at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.com. Launch it and click on
the FILE menu and OPEN VIDEO_TS folder. Navigate to the DVD and select
the VIDEO_TS folder.

If you don't have the DVD Player app preinstalled, there is an app you
can use that will allow you to find and install an app by searching out
it's installer package on the OS X installer CD and install it. I don't
recall what the name of the app is, but a bit of Googling should turn it
up. I had to do this on my B&W that didn't come with a DVD drive, but I
later installed a drive in, then had to install the DVD player app. And
for me on my B&W, the Apple DVD Player worked better than VLC. DVD
Player played DVD's fairly smoothly, while I got some "stuttering" with VLC.
