Actually that should say:

"Multiple vulnerabilities in OS X were fixed over two months ago."

The article, released by CERT on May 16, 2005 talks about the things fixed in Security Update 2005-005, released May 2nd.

This isn't new news by any stretch of the imagination...

When you see a security update in Software Update, install it, as general good practice.

That said, all of the problems listed in the CERT list require a local user, and most require more than the default configuration to be enabled.
