make sure you add the .doc extension names to your files.
they should be cross platform as is.

Subject: [G] ot: cant open word 2004 documents?!

hey out there,

we're in a real bind here: we've just upgraded one of our machines (g4
powebook running panther) from ms 'office mac' to ms 'office 2004
pro'.

when we try and open word documents on a pc, they refuse to open.

on a pc (word version 2002) we get the error:

<-snip->
the document name or path is not valid. try these suggestions: check
the file permissions for the document or drive use the file open
dialog box to locate the document <-snip->

we've tried both and no joy.

there seems to be nothing online about this and it's getting desperate
as clients are screaming at us due to the fact they cant open any
documents we send them!

we *think* it's got something to do with the save protection feature
but we're not sure...

has anyone come across this before?

please help...

many thanks,

jake
