Urgent message to list members using YAHOO GEOCITIES web sites. Yahoo has invaded our several (19) sites on GeoCities (they own it) by changing code to html 4.0 Transitional and removing all sub directories without notice via email. We specifically kept all html at 3.5, so that these sites will run and display properly on older browsers that several members have continued to use as the last browser they can upgrade to without getting a new machine. NO, we are NOT interested in upgrading when it works just fine!!!!! NO HYPE111
AND -- The sub directories are NOT RECOVERABLE!!! In 3 instances, we have purchased URLs DIRECTLY from Yahoo, redirecting to the existing sites on GeoCities, only to find that EVEN these sites also have been modified without permission or notice. Several added lines of code Òadded by the serverÓ not by webmasters! HELP - is there a lawyer on the list? Are we totally without recourse to this ÒfreeÓ service AFTER viewing the ads that they charged for and derived monetary benefit from at we viewers expense?
