But is there some sort of equivalent for OSX?

Here's my problem: I use custom icons for the THOUSANDS of image files I have stored on my drive (many of which have names like Thurs8474.jpg or mehgue.jpg).

Well, my custom icons are not only getting mixed up, they're spreading to other files which are not even images or even in the same folder - I have a sound file called flutebeep which strangely now has the custom icon of a guy I know from California.

Any suggestions on how I can clear this up?
