Just a quick one
Do ATA cables have a 'direction' i.e. Can they be fitted either way
round?
Andy
BTW my old printer used to be called "Lotty the LaserWriter"
Nope, no direction at all. I've reversed many 3 connector cables
because some of these large tower cases require a further distance
between the two devices you are connecting to the same channel. The
red stripe is supposed to go on pin 1 of the device or motherboard
connector. Even that can be reversed so long as both ends are hooked
up the same way.
Just a message from Doug...

And the connectors are keyed so that they will go on correctly.

I know, when people see a cat's litter box, they always say, "Oh, have
you got a cat?" Just once I want to say, "No, it's for company!"
