Are your new cartridges from HP or are they refills or another brand?
HP made some of their printers that could read a code on the cartridges
and wouldn't recognize them as valid replacements. Some cartridges that
I have put into my Photosmart p1000 always showed that it was out of
ink. Didn't matter because it still prints.
