I assume you're using OSX, but control Panel is System Preferences -
should be in the dock - it's a white square, with the apple logo in
on the right, and what looks like a switch on the left. If it isn't
in the Dock, just open Finder, click on Applications and it should be
in there.
As for spyware/etc - there isn't really any for the Mac, so you don't
need anti-virus or anti-spyware AFAIK for any version of MacOS.
And what zombie programs are you mentioning? What do you see? We
need more info really.
Cheers - Piers
Sorry about the lack of info. This is a B & W G3 (ver, 2,2) that was
used at U of San Diego after they upgraded to G5's. I've been able to
update to 10.2.8, 450MHz. 128 MB of memory, L2 cache size = 1 MB.
The reason I asked about the control panel is now that I have owned
this for about 1 1/2 months, I'm getting alerts that some programs
won't load or it says it is unable write file because my hard drive is
full and that I need to free up space. I wanted to un-install some
programs , thinking that would free up space.
The zombies were found in the Process Listings. Name = sh , User =
root, Status = Zombie, CPU and Memory = 0. There is currently one case
of this, but I have seen 3 at once.
I hope this is the info you needed and thank you for the lightning
fast response.
Hi.
Don't worry about the zombie processes - this is normal in the
operation of a Unix system, and they should eventually disappear.
The System Preferences application will help you configure your system,
but it won't help with removing applications. To remove applications,
simply drag them to the trash can and empty the trash, but be careful
when removing OS X standard applications.
