I am still trying to figure out this new-fangled operating
system (10.2.8).
On this poor old Beige G3 Minitower, the system is so slow when
running a Classis application that I can't stand it. It takes
several seconds to open a message in Claris EMailer, while when
the same machine is booted into 9.2.2, a message opens in the
blink of an eye.
Also, I have several 10/100 ehternet cards but have yet to find
a driver that works under both 10.2.8 and 9.2.2. The built-in
ethernet works fine but is noticeably slower for large downloads.
Is it just the "emulation" under Classic that bogs the machine
(it has a G3/300 processor and 320MB RAM).
I've just insralled OS102.8 on my B&W G3/300 with 512mb. Classic does
seem to run irritatingly slowly... my 240mHz G3ed 6116 will beat it
hands down. Needless to say, I'm going to stick with 0S9.2 as long as
I can (all of my nonfreeware is preOS10).
