I use the 5200's twain driver with photoshop elements. It works very
well.

Which driver did you try?
Attempts to download from the Epson sight
"TWAIN Driver and EPSON Scan Utility v2.65A"
(which claims 10.3.x compatibility consistently fail.
It's a whopping 40.5 MB file that always stalls at 33.5
reporting "POSIX error connection reset by peer"
I have no problem downloading Epson File 11390.sea (TWAIN Driver
and EPSON Scan Utility v2.65A).
I notice on Version Tracker some dialog on difficulty with Espon
and earlier OSX issues and complaints about Epson customer
support. So maybe this is an endemic incompatibility?
Over several years I contacted Epson Technical Support twice by e-
mail, with questions about Mac OS X support for very old Epson
printers, and received prompt, courteous and helpful responses.
