I have to second that Rev 1s are fine.  Indeed they do have issues with some 
harddrives, but an ATA card shouldnt cost that much.  I really dont understand 
how you spent $400 before it would work.  A 16MB ATI card runs about $5 from 
eBay.  A new ATI card with 128MB has costed a bit over $100 for quite some 
time now.  Further, I really think that the harddrive issues were only specific 
to about one brand name of harddrives, Maxtor i think, maybe Western Digital.  
I set one up and it worked fine.
