My DA came, whee!

After hacking the 5200FX card (details forthcoming), I find myself wanting to get a DVD burner.

Looking at OWC, I see the 'superdrives' from pioneer.

In particular, the DVR-A07XLA looks to be a good choice. Not too expensive, and it does dual layer (how fast it burns is not that critical to me).

However, they want 60 bucks for it, when I see it elsewhere for as little as 40.

Does anyone have any experience with adding an 'off the shelf' burner and having it work /without/ batchburn (aka native support), and being able to boot off of the drive?
