I installed a 533 MHz processor from a Power Mac G4 Digital Audio, into my G4 Sawtooth AGP Graphic, which I bought from Apple as a 350 MHz.

When I pull-up the "About this Mac" it responds with "Processor 400 MNz PowerPC G4" and when I go to the "System Profile" it has the same information.

I'm running OS X 10.3.9 so I switched back OS 9.2.2 and that OS had the same information.

Does anyone know 1. Why, 2. How do I correct this information.
The previous owner of this processor says that when it was in his Digital Audio that his platform reported a 533MHz operating speed.

The processor has a 4x multiplier from the bus speed. A Digital Audio has a 133 MHz bus so 133MHz x 4 = 533MHz

Your Sawtooth has a 100 MHz bus speed so a 4x multiplier gives you 100MHz x 4 = 400MHz

You can not really correct this because everything is working correctly.

From what I understand there are hacks to change the multiplier on the card, but this entails some soldering and circuit board work and is not for the squeamish.

Well It's been about 25-30 years since I was a senior Tech in digital electronics manufacturing (those were the days of IC's and discreet components, i.e. resistors, capacitors and all of those things), so I'm not squeamish and if someone knows where, or who posted this procedure would they please give me directions to the post.

I think someone on this list has done that, but do not remember.

Len
