i have a g4 533 w/10.3.9

the icons for my external firewire drives disappeared/went offline today twice.

i rebooted the first time and got them back, but aobut 2 hours later they disappeared again
and i rebooted again, but they are not showing up.

....and disk utility doesn't see them.

Bad firewire cable, loose connections? failing drive enclosure? I had a cat once who thought computer cables were the greatest chew toy on earth...I've got an old SCSI cable that looks like it was used as a voodoo doll.

Does it say anything in the console or system log at the times these drives are disappearing?
