Yes, the patch must be run from OS 9 and I don't believe that it is manufacturer specific. Hope this helps. I had a Rev 1 blue which was a G4 400 by the time I was done with it. Nice machine, unfortunately mine had the ATA bus problems that others have run into when I replaced the original hard drive. I ended up with RAID SCSI drives in it, and left the original 6G ata drive.

Hi Elton,

From what I've read, the patch does have to be run from OS 9.

Did you run the G4 enabler on this machine prior to installing the upgrade? G3 Blues have a firmware block to prevent G4 chips from being recognized. There is an enabler which must be run to allow the G4 chip to be recognized. I don't have a link handy but you can google and find one I am pretty sure. I'd be surprised if PowerLogix site didn't have one actually.

It is available from the Powerlogix site and a link is at OWC.

While on topic.. I tried to run it on my new B&W in prep for an upgrade and it tells me it "Isn't for my computer it is only for the G3 b&W". Does it have to be launched in OS 9?
