Myself, I'm leery of these things, ever since a co-worker came into
work on a Monday morning moaning about how Partition Magic had eaten
all the partitions on his drive and everything was gone.
When I read things like "will automatically move partitions around to
use the free space on your disk." I get REALLY leery. Realize, this
is pretty much moving a building you made out those old wooden
children's blocks by picking up the big yellow ones you used for the
foundation of the building.
I'm pretty old school on this subject: if you HAVE to partition
drives (and there are limited reasons to do so, imo), doing it the
old fashioned way is best: back up all the data, repartition,
reformat and restore the data.
I could also be cranky and set in my ways, too. Maybe they have
gotten it right with these utilities, but I'd never do something like
this without a full, current backup, and since I have that anyway,
why not just do it the 'right' way and save $45. <shrug> I'm cheap,
too ;-)
