I assume you're not taking about 10.4 because you need to talk to Macs running
on OS less than 9. It's a logical choice that I have taken.

It does make sense on a sawtooth to maintain OS 9 on a bootable partition
rather than as a classic-under-OS neXt only system folder. I recently found
that useful to confirm that some ATI video cards were unusable under OS neXt
but perfectly OK in OS 9. They moved to this 8500 where they work fine.

Agreed. I use an SE/30 and an empty Mac II enclosure with a few SCSI disks in
it for that/ Actually I back up each data file as I save it.

Naah. Just plan on re-installing from original media. Make CD archives once in
a while for the lawyers. Do save and backup a data file with passwords and
installation codes.

The scratch partition is unnecessary. There seems to be no reason in OS neXt
for a swap partition and I donno how to tell the OS to use it anyway.

The G4 will handle another - slave - ATA drive internally. Are you sure you
don't want to leave the 60G there?

And. I have found that a partition formatted with a case-sensitive HFS+ file
system is quite useful for testing web-oriented stuff that is headed for a UNIX
server or a Linux box. That is possible in OS 10.3.9 using non-server software.
 Ask if you need instructions.
