The MacDraw file format was PICT with extensive use of PICT comments to provide 
features of MacDraw like grouping of objects. PICT is pretty much a sequential 
listing of raw quickdraw commands.

Early versions of AppleWorks - free to purchasers of lower end Macs - could 
open and edit MacDraw files. That feature was discontinued at AppleWorks 4 or 
so.
